Suspected teenage thief escapes from Ibadan police station

A teenager, Mathew Sule, was on Thursday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, for escaping from police custody, breaking into a veterinary hospital and stealing a pumping machine.
The police charged Mr Sule with conspiracy, house breaking, theft and unlawful escape from custody.
Prosecution counsel Foluke Adedosu told the court that Mr Sule committed the offence on April 14, at about 5:00 p.m. in Idi Ishin area of Ibadan.
The police alleged that Mr Sule and others at large, broke into Tessy’s Veterinary Hospital with intent to commit felony.
Ms Adedosu also alleged that the defendant on April 21, at about 2:00 p.m., at Eleyele police station, Ibadan, escaped from lawful custody.
The offence, she said, contravened sections 516, 413, 390 and 135(a) of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate I.O. Osho admitted the defendant to bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 4 for hearing.
