The Kebbi State police command has arrested a suspect and recovered a large quantity of stolen electricity service cables in Kara area of Bunza Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesman, Bashir Usman, in a statement on Thursday said the vandalised items were recovered on Tuesday.

He said that the recovery followed concerns over the persistent vandalism of electricity infrastructure in the area, which plunged several communities into darkness and disrupted the supply of electricity to residents.

“Police operatives recovered ten bundles and seven sacks of electricity service cables. A suspect, Mustapha Abubakar, was arrested and subsequently arraigned before the court,” Mr Usman said.

He stated that the development underscored the command’s resolve to dismantle the activities of individuals and criminal networks responsible for the theft and vandalism of public infrastructure.
