The army spokesman said the intervention of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in Amasiri and its adjoining communities was not an invasion.
The court martial also sentenced another soldier, Abubakar Yusuf, for robbery at a mall within Enugu.
“We need to take out these weapons in our midst; we need solutions; we need to think out of the box so we can take away these weapons.”
He lauded their courage and resilience in the face of adversity and saluted their undying faith in the Nigerian state.

Spokeman for the 82 Division, Abubakar Abdullahi, said the exercise will involve unusual movements of troops.
The army said “IPOB has continued to intimidate and harass citizens who come out to do their legitimate businesses.”
The Ohanaeze leader, who expressed delight over the GOC’s visit to the Ohanaeze House, said “without peace, nations cannot progress.”
