He said those affected in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) numbered 20,376; those in Bwari Area Council numbered 2,058 while 2,279 persons were affected in Abaji Area Council.
The warning came after three filling stations around Abuja were razed within the last two weeks.
Mr Idriss said human-induced activities caused floods, adding that the agency was able to mitigate the impact of the perennial heavy floods parts of Abuja.
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in the FCT on Thursday and Friday, based on the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) High Impact-Based Forecast.
Ms Sa’idu noted that the call became necessary following the 2022 Seasonal Climate Prediction that forecast above normal amounts of rainfall across the country.
“Do not drive through running water and switch off electrical appliances before and not during the rains to avoid electrical shocks.”
The agency said an average of five fire incidents are recorded daily in the FCT, noting that the frequency of fire incident is too high.
The agency is pushing for the prosecution of defaulters to serve as a deterrent to others.
The official advised citizens to stay at home if it’s raining and the road is flooded.
