In December 2021, ASUU had warned that failure of the federal government to meet its demands would force it into another round of strike.

The union said the strike was part of the resolutions reached at the ASUU emergency congress and must not be called off without a resolution.
After a three weeks ultimatum, ASUU has referred the decision to resume strike to its branches.
ASUU had given the government a three-week ultimatum to release N30 billion University Revitalisation Fund failing which it would commence a strike.
FUTO had initially justified the appointment of Mr Pantami as Professor of Cyber Security, maintaining that he meets the institution’s extant requirements.
