Blue economy minister Adegboyega Oyetola has called for stronger regional cooperation and increased investment in the fisheries sector across West and Central Africa.
According to him, the proposed national carrier will reduce dependence on foreign shipping lines.
Mr Oyetola noted that infrastructure development remained central to the administration’s strategy.
Nigeria has agreed to serve as the pilot country for the formal implementation of the Regional Record of Authorised Fishing Vessels in West Africa.
Mr Oyetola said the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria’s 2026 budget was wrongly placed by the Budget Office under the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
The minister assured the board of the ministry’s full support in discharging its responsibilities.
