The Nigerian Ports Authority has secured global recognition as Apapa and Tin Can ports ranked among the world’s top 20 improved ports.
The agency said the commitment was highlighted during a four-day study visit by officials of the Gambia Maritime Administration to the agency in Lagos from June 8 to 11.
“Political contests must never degenerate into intimidation, attacks or bloodshed,” Mr Oyetola said.
Mr Oyetola commended SON for its dedication to the promotion of standardisation and quality assurance across sectors.

The managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Abubakar Dantsoho, says the maritime sector recorded strong growth in the first quarter of 2026.
He said he was optimistic that voters would turn out massively in support of him and the APC.
Nigeria has urged the global maritime community to ensure fairness, equity, and stronger support for developing economies in shipping’s transition to net-zero emissions.
Mr Oyetola said the project would significantly enhance the capacity, effectiveness and competitiveness of the ports.
Mr Akutah reiterated the council’s commitment to driving reforms.
