The Kano government has commenced the implementation of the police duty solicitor scheme to strengthen criminal justice administration.
“We have not done enough. The ACJL is in place, but its implementation remains poor. We need to wake up and do more,” said the Bauchi chief magistrate.
“One of the goats was found in their possession already slaughtered.’’
The alleged offences were contrary to the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State 2017.
The convict was sentenced for stealing a trailer load of Softcare pampers worth N13.5 million.
The judge said they deserved mercy, noting that the boy was underage while the woman was aged, sick and frail.
Meanwhile, the governor had also assented to seven other bills earlier passed by the state house of assembly.
The defence team is asking the court to grant the suspects bail on liberal terms.
