The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has notified its customers of a planned maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
Mr Bago noted that power distribution was a private-sector venture but said the state was engaging the AEDC to improve supply.
According to the agency, the initiative is aimed at boosting Nigeria’s transition to clean energy.
The residents alleged that AEDC is giving preference to consumers on Band A and neglecting those on other bands.
The AEDC stated that the exercise would run in three phases for effective management.
“Our technical team is working tirelessly to restore supply as quickly as possible.”
AEDC said its dedicated technical team were working tirelessly to restore power as quickly as possible.
TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah disclosed in a statement on Friday that over 60 per cent of the power supply to Abuja was affected.
This is a result of AEDC’s relocation of a feeder.
Some consumers spoke in separate interviews on Monday, describing the increase as unfair given the country’s harsh economic situation.
