Health commissioner Afam Obidike disclosed this in Awka on Friday at a news conference to mark the 2024 World Malaria Day.

Mr Obidike said many pregnant women ran to the IDPs for safety during the flooding without their delivery kits.

The blood banks would be established in the three senatorial districts to reduce maternal and perinatal deaths in the state.
The pilot hub, situated at Comprehensive Medical Centre, Awkuzu, is connected to 10 other health centres in different communities.
A total of 3,850,316 insecticide-treated nets were distributed to residents of the state between August 7 and August 21.
“As a government, we are not happy with the low percentage of people who, after collecting the nets, had yet to commence sleeping inside them.”
A civil society organisation in Anambra has cautioned beneficiaries of free insecticide-treated mosquito nets against using them for fishing or preserving grains.
