“They said the money was a Christmas gift from the president to the honourables,” a lawmaker told The Gazette. “Christmas is the season to collect gifts, even from the president.”
Mr Gagdi said on Tuesday in Abuja that the report that G6 were not together was a big lie.
Last week, Peoples Gazette reported that lawmakers threatened to impeach Mr Gbajabiamila, accusing him of forging the House’s standing rules in favour of Tajudeen Abass as his successor.
“You think the 182 will not be scared of their governors and leaders who already gave them instruction regarding who becomes the speaker.”
Mr Wase (APC-Plateau) stated this when declared his intention to run for the office of the speaker in Abuja on Friday.
At the meeting, Mr Shettima promised to meet other aspirants in the race for the 10th House of Representatives speakership in a bid to reach a truce.
“One message I want to send across is that the parliament is one institution that must always be allowed to choose its own leaders.”
APC has nominated Abbas Tajudeen (APC-Kaduna) to succeed Mr Gbajabiamila, and Benjamin Kalu (APC-Abia) as the deputy speaker.
The Plateau said presidential candidates who flagged off their campaigns in the state capital of Jos usually win the election.
“This time around, we are very prepared to repeat that feat as we confidently March into the 2023 presidential and general elections.”
