Mr Abubakar and others appealed for the passage of Almajiri Education and Out of School Children Bill 2023, which was initiated and sponsored by Balarabe Kakale and 17 other lawmakers.
The Kaduna government with support from UNICEF on Wednesday inaugurated the disbursement of N5,000 monthly cash transfer.
Mr Ogbodo said his initiative is inspired by his personal challenges while struggling to get an education after the death of his father.
The Governing Council of Arabic and Tsangaya Education Board is to integrate vocational skills in the 2,775 almajiri schools and 451 Qur’anic schools in Borno.
“Katsina state has the highest number of out-of-school children of about 1,135,000, which comprises almajirai, nomads, IDPs and vulnerable children.”
He also described as sad the situation where the Almajiris were being projected negatively in social media platforms by some individuals.
The stakeholders want the integration of the almajiri system with the conventional educational system.
“The committee will also develop a training and retraining framework of all Almajiri teachers in the state.”
The children included toddlers, who were unable to properly identify themselves.
