The lawyer, however, expressed concern over the decision to relocate Mr Kanu to a prison in Sokoto.
“He was picked up not too long ago by armed policemen acting under the instructions of the commissioner of police in the FCT,” said Tope Temokun.
Mr Ejimakor disclosed his arrest in a social media post on Monday morning, shortly after police tear-gassed demonstrators.
Mr Ejimakor said Mr Kanu’s legal team received the “momentous and somewhat pyrrhic” letters when they visited him on Friday.
The Federal High Court, Abuja Division, adjourned the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB, indefinitely on Monday.
“I hereby recuse myself from this case and remit the file to the chief judge for further necessary action,” Ms Nyako stated.
Justice Nyako reviewed conditions for visiting the IPOB leader at the SSS facility by his lawyers.
In the brief of argument, Mr Kanu prayed the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal to set aside the trial court’s decision.
Mr Benye said the instant suit was an abuse of court process.
Justice Binta Nyako made the threat after Mr Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, told the court that the legal team was not ready for the trial.
