He said that enforcing the regulation would help curb crime and safeguard law-abiding citizens across the state.
Mr Ikenga noted that the state commissioner of police, Ikioye Orutugu, has extended condolences to the family of the deceased.
Mr Ikenga said the drinks were being produced without the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) approval.
Mr Ikenga said officers received the suspect from officials of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) on August 22.
He added that a witness account revealed that the armed criminals operated with a motorcycle and a black Lexus 350 SUV without a licence plate.
Mr Ikenga stated that the suspect was caught on June 14 at Fegge in Onitsha, the commercial nerve centre of Anambra.
The command’s spokesman said some criminals escaped with various degrees of bullet injuries inflicted on them.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Ikioye Orutugu, said the initiative aligns the command’s forensic capabilities with global best practices in criminal investigations.
Mr Ikenga explained that security checkpoints across the state were placed on high alert after the victims’ abduction was reported.
Mr Ikenga noted that the crash claimed six lives, while several others sustained injuries and were currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
