He called on passengers to consider road safety as a shared responsibility.
The Ogun command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says 35 people died in 49 road crashes in Ogun between June 1 and June 27.
FRSC urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, exercise patience, and reduce speed to prevent highway disasters.
The operation will run from June 14 to June 21.
Mr Uga said both the regular and special marshals had been mobilised to make the exercise successful.
The FRSC sector commander gave the advice as the Muslim faithful prepared to celebrate Sallah on June 16.
The FRSC sector commander was reacting to Thursday’s gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where motorists spent long hours in traffic.
Anthony Uga, the Ogun sector commander, told journalists on Monday in Ota that the exercise was to reduce road crashes along the corridor.
She noted that eight people, comprising six men, one woman and a female child, were involved in the accident.
Mr Uga was reacting to the tanker accident in the Ibafo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday.
