Mr Buhari refused to openly endorse a presidential aspirant though he tried to cajole APC governors into accepting his request for “reciprocity.”
The Nigerian leader walked back his statement from last week in which he said he should be allowed to pick a successor.
The APC is set to hold its national convention on March 26 to elect national officers to run the party for the next four years.
“We will rather not comment on any timetable or any activities until we meet with the president,” PGF said.
“Since the buildup to the 2019 elections, internal contests in the APC began to degenerate, while some leaders became intolerant…”
The PGF director-general recently called on committee members to resign if they would not be able to conduct the party’s national convention in February.
“The correlation between collapse of education since the mid-1980s, rising levels of unemployment and insecurity are very glaring.”
The governors said the activities of the government are hardly recognised by critics and opposition parties who barely give meaningful recommendations.
APC governors held a closed-door meeting on Sunday night in Abuja.
The party wants issues of recruitment, training, disciplinary requirements, and others, to be handled at federal level.
