A security officer of the university, identified as C.K., said he was acting on the directive of the Chief Security Officer, Ashiru Zango.
Mr Ahmed said Mr Baikie’s life exemplified the core values cherished by ABU.
The director said at inception, ABU had four faculties and 426 students.
The ABU VC said Mr Babangida’s life had been defined by strength of character.
The six-day competition was held from May 20 to May 25.
Mr Ahmed has spent over three decades at the ABU where he taught and mentored students.
He added that the distribution board and some obsolete public address systems have been consumed by the fire.
The university spokesman said the fee has been in place for forty years.
The first phase of resumption on January 25, would comprise final year and graduating students.
