The national grid collapsed twice in a week, making it the third time.
Ms Mbah said the company was doing everything possible to ensure the restoration of power supply to the North-East.
“We acknowledge the current unsustainable situation, and we expect a turnaround immediately,” he stated.
“This led to the union shutting down our source of supply at Egbu Transmission Station, leaving us with no energy to distribute to our customers.”
Mr Ramaphosa said he would appoint a minister of electricity to oversee projects that will deescalate the electricity crisis.
The residents staged a peaceful protest on major streets and submitted a protest letter to the EKEDC District Manager in the area.
“Nigeria is a country of more than 200 million people and needs more than 100,000 megawatts of power and infrastructures.”
