“It is worrisome that as of June, no fewer than 7,408 driver’s licences that have been processed and are yet to be collected across our licensing centres in the state,” he said.
The unit commanders are to take responsibilities and demonstrate professionalism in discharging their duties.
Mr Jonathan said there were no more shortcuts to obtaining the driver’s licence.
The commanding officers were also directed to ensure strict sanctioning of critical offences like overloading, rickety vehicles, and excessive smoke.
The number of road traffic accidents were significantly scaled down from 28,215 in 1987 to 13,027 in 2021.
Mr Oyeyemi assured the public of the sustainability of this certification through enhanced productivity, professionalism and effective service delivery.
Mr Oyeyemi appealed to motorists to shun night journey, avoid driving rickety vehicles and obey all traffic rules to avoid crashes during the festivities.
