On Thursday, the College of Medicine (CMUL) University of Lagos (UNILAG) inducted 32 physiotherapy graduates.
Stakeholders in the creative industry have advised the federal government to recognise the industry’s potential in mitigating brain drain.
He said brain drain and other issues affecting Nigerian youths had become issues of national emergency that required concerted efforts to tackle.
“Brain drain has worsened the doctor-patient ratio as the ratio is now one doctor to 10,000 patients.”
NMA has blamed the rising maternal and infant mortality in the country to brain drain in the health sector.
“Doctors too fall ill, nurses fall ill, and you don’t want to be a victim of a failed system. So we are trying to make it work for everybody.”
The federal government says it’s reviewing the hazard allowance so as to stem the tide of brain drain.
