The Cross River epidemiologist, Inyang Ekpenyong, has confirmed two new cases of mpox in Calabar Municipality Local Government Area.
It was learnt that the gunmen had a getaway boat waiting for them nearby, which they reportedly used to whisk away their victims.
“Killing him in the most gruesome manner through mob action is not only barbaric, it is illegal and unacceptable,” the police spokeswoman stated.
The 24-year-old student, Deborah Effiom, was abducted from her parents house on August 31 and her parents made to pay N5.05 million in ransom.
