A senior official on Tuesday confirmed that Israel transferred the bodies of 45 Palestinians to the Gaza Strip.
Mr Clinton’s statement followed the release of 20 Israeli hostages on Monday by Hamas.
Hamas said it has monitored Israel’s violation of the agreement and will be suspending further release of Israeli hostages.
The medical professor in charge of the hostages, Hagai Levine, spoke of the “brutal, inhumane conditions’’ of Hamas captivity.
Israeli hostages released by Hamas were Doron Steinbrecher, 31, British-Israeli Emily Damari, 28, and Romi Gonen, 24.
“The horror must stop. It’s high time for a ceasefire along with unconditional release of hostages,” he appealed.
