Mr Elumelu urged the CBN to remain focused and intensify sensitisation while putting every measure in place to assist Nigerians.
Residents are resorting to paying for purchases through the use of point of sale machines or mobile transfer.
The allocated new naira notes are to be disbursed to Katsina residents through agents.
Changing banknotes is not peculiar to Nigeria, but the lawmaker said “when the CBN wants to bring something sinister, we will blow the whistle.”
“This effort is not a quest to prevent international service providers from continuing to provide services in Nigeria.”
“The current daily limit of transaction to N20,000 is against the central bank’s daily limit of N100,000.”
Mr Gana said the country’s economy has been affected by the “needless scarcity” just as he noted that the long queues at the filling stations are intolerable.
Mr Israel wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday that the scarcity is an act of internal sabotage by high-level members of the APC to quash Mr Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
“The CBN has massively supplied the new notes to commercial banks to dispense both at counters and ATMs.”
The financial expert said the decision would help tighten the circulation of funds in the country.
