Nigeria is grappling with a cholera outbreak amidst a global shortage of vaccines.
“One can’t expect people like us to cook when we are at our workshops,” said a mechanic.
“I urge all hotels and restaurants to prioritise the health and safety of their guests and staff.’’
The commissioner restated the state government’s commitment to the health and well-being of residents.
Mr Abayomi disclosed this during a state multi-agency news briefing and an update on the cholera outbreak in Lagos on Monday.
Mr Shurkuk said that despite the outbreak in 30 other states, Plateau had yet to record any cases, as the two suspected cases reported tested negative for cholera.
WHO has announced a spike in cholera in several regions of the world, with almost 195,000 cases and over 1,900 deaths reported in 24 countries.
The health ministry said it would continue to provide updates in collaboration with NCDC as the situation evolves.
”However, we need the cooperation of all residents to maintain a clean and safe environment,” Mr Gbadegesin said.
The agency is working with relevant stakeholders to strengthen the campaign on the prevention of cholera outbreak in the state.
