Mr Piwuna explained that all references for implementation by the union would now be made from the new 2025 agreement.
Chris Piwuna, president of ASUU, announced this at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja.
“The strike is a directive to all branches of ASUU nationwide; therefore, all branches of ASUU must join and must comply maximally,” said the ASUU chief in UniOsun.
“The warning strike shall be total and comprehensive as agreed at the last NEC meeting,” ASUU declared.
Mr Piwuna explained that rivalry among the unions would not benefit the university system.
Mr Piwuna stated that nine critical issues remain unresolved, including the stalled renegotiation process since 2017.
The new president will take over from Emmanuel Osodeke, a professor of Agriculture at the University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia, who has served since 2021.
