He said the partnership aligned with the agency’s renewed effort to strengthen inmate rehabilitation and reduce recidivism in Nigerian correctional centres.
Mr Jen described community acceptance as critical to the success of rehabilitation efforts.
The award was presented at a ceremony held in Abuja on Thursday.
Ms Abdulmalik said that the inmates were freed following a thorough review of their case files.
Mr Jen stated, “Our gratitude goes to our NGO partners whose donations have made this vision a reality.”
The National Open University of Nigeria has presented degree certificates to six inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, Abuja.
