NDLEA arrested a Vietnam-bound businessman, Paul Mbadugha, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, with wraps of cocaine.
“Many of the criminal and terrorist activities you see today in Nigeria are drug-induced,” said Ajentekebia Harry.
Mr Agboalu said the arrest figure made by the NDLEA reflected a 9.38 per cent decrease from the 501 arrests made in the previous year
The NDLEA said the suspects were arrested, and the warehouses linked to the drugs were “taken down”.
Mr Akomolafe said on Wednesday in Okitipupa, Ondo, that the rate at which drugs were being abused by youths and others in the country was alarming, adding that it called for serious concern.
Mr Danmalam listed the seized drugs to include cannabis sativa, cocaine, rohypnol, methamphetamine and heroine.
The alleged offence attracts a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
The drugs, worth the equivalent of €8.5 million ($9.06 million) and destined for an EU country, were hidden in mattresses.
Mr Danmalam urged the public to shun illicit drug abuse and trafficking.
The man was allegedly accused of having brutally raped and physically assaulted his former partner last May.
