The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu has hailed Nigerian youths home and abroad in celebration of International Youth day.
Nigeria won 35 medals – 12 gold, nine silver and 14 bronze to finish seventh on the medals table which displayed 43 nations.
‘‘We are proud of these achievements and the memories will linger with the nation forever and for me this is a special moment,” said Mr Buhari.
Amusan set a time of 12.30s to continue what is her best season ever as an athlete.
Wrestling dominated the bulk of the medals on Saturday as para-table tennis, para-athletics and athletes in other sports continued to make the country proud.
“We express our heartfelt gratitude to Odunayo Adekuoroye for making us proud in Ondo state and Nigeria at large,” said the Ondo government.
Team Nigeria are expected to win more medals in weightlifting and athletics events before the end of the day.
On Saturday morning, Team Nigeria increased their gold medal as five athletes got to the podium, finishing top.
Innocent Nnamdi on Thursday won a bronze medal in the men’s lightweight para-powerlifting event.
The 23-year-old also previously held the world record of 33.35m for the F42 event before this tournament.
