The report said that in March 2026, the rural inflation rate was 17.22 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
The report said the food inflation rate in January was 8.89 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
The NBS report attributed the decrease in food inflation to the reduction in average prices of items.
Mr Idris assured that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would sustain the momentum of economic improvement by prioritising people-centred policies.
“Our GDP and CPI allow us to align with these transformations, providing a more precise and relevant picture of Nigeria’s economic landscape,” said the statistician-general.
The National Bureau of Statistics says Nigeria’s headline inflation rate increased by 33.88 per cent in October 2024.
NBS said that on a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate in August 2024 was 6.35 per cent higher than in August 2023 at 25.80 per cent.
On a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate was 11.40 per cent higher compared to June 2023, which recorded a rate of 22.79 per cent.
The report said on a year-on-year basis, in May 2024, the urban inflation rate was 36.34 per cent.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reports that the National Average Cost of a Healthy Diet (CoHD) per adult per day was N1,035 in April.
