It said increases were observed in food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel.
The NBS said in its CoHD report for March 2024, released on Tuesday that the cost in March increased by 4.7 per cent compared to the N938 recorded in February.
NBS said that on a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate in February 2024 was 9.79 per cent higher than the rate recorded in February 2023, which was 21.91 per cent.
The NBS disclosed this in its December Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Inflation Report, which was released in Abuja on Thursday.
The data for this indicator is derived from the comprehensive food price data.
In November 2022, the headline inflation rate stood at 21.47 per cent.
On a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate in September was 5.94 per cent higher than the rate recorded in September 2022 at 20.77 per cent.
According to the report, the figure of 1.72 per cent is higher than the 24.08 per cent recorded in July 2023.
The NBS said on a month-on-month basis, the core inflation rate was 2.11 per cent in July 2023.
This is the first interest rate meeting and decision by the CBN since President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29.
