Nnamdi Opara, a businessman and father of two, said he had to adjust his spending to accommodate the increase in cooking gas prices.
This was revealed in the Bureau’s ‘Cooking Gas Price Watch’ for September 2024, released on Friday.
The report showed that Benue recorded the highest average price at N7,000 for 5kg cooking gas.
The NBS said the average price of 5kg cooking gas increased on a year-on-year basis by 40.48 per cent.
NBS said Bauchi recorded the lowest average price for 12.5kg of cooking gas at N13,167.50, followed by Katsina and Yobe at N13,562.50 and N13,610.00, respectively.
“The demand for LPG for domestic use has increased.”

NBS says the average price of 5kg of cooking gas increased from N4,562.51 in October 2023 to N4,828.18 in November 2023.
The intervention on cooking gas followed the rise in the price of LPG per kg in recent months, from about N700 to above N900 in parts of the country.
