A tanker fire at the Ugwu Onyeama axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway has claimed three lives and destroyed property estimated at N900 million.
According to the FRSC sector commander, the crash claimed the lives of 15 persons, with 13 others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The driver of the SUV is in police custody.
The armed men reportedly gave the truck driver and his conductor several machete cuts and tied them with ropes and made away with the truck.
The truck driver drove recklessly, left his lane and faced the motorcycle, thereby crushing both the rider and his passenger to death, witnesses say.
Trucks run by Dangote Group have killed hundreds of Nigerians in fatal crashes over the past decade alone.
