Mr Umahi said that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was committed to improving the country’s infrastructure.
Mr Umahi made the call during an inspection tour of some bridges in Lagos State.
The minister admitted that proper procedures were not followed when announcing the closure of the bridge.
Mr Sanwo-Olu said, “Let’s think out of the box.’’
The decision was made to ensure fair compensation for the affected citizens.
The minister said N341 billion had been proposed to repair roads and bridges nationwide in 2025, but the amount might be insufficient.
He said a dedicated boat and vehicles had been assigned to the facility to enable a swift response time of five minutes to any incident.
He described the project as an investment not only for the present generation but an investment for the future.
The meeting in Lagos, chaired by Nigeria’s Works Minister Dave Umahi, discussed the project, which is expected to cost $15 billion and deepen regional economic integration.
Ms Osim said, “I am glad to announce that Julius Berger and Sematech are returning to the site to resume works at both ends of the Calabar-Itu-Ikot Ekpene road.
