He said the increasing connection between drug use, cultism, cybercrime and violent offences now constitutes a major internal security concern.
The PSC spokesman said Mr Lawal was the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of border patrol at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Mr Argungu called on the federal and state governments to review the current passive and obsolete criminal justice system at various levels.
“We know too well that the Nigerian Police Force has records of recovered arms and ammunition across the federation,” the NCCSALW coordinator said.
Mr Ani said the 122 other senior police officers promoted were 10 Commissioners of Police (CP) to the next rank of AIG and 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) to CP.
“As senior officers, you must be held responsible for any relapse in the security apparatus of the nation.”
“The electorate should be rest assured of adequate security during the election,” he said.
He also said that all the areas noted for crisis or where security threats might come from had been taken care of and would be well-policed.
Those affected by the deployment are from the rank of assistant commissioner of police and above.
