According to the group, the crisis has been worsened by deep cuts to international aid.
“Unfortunately, 652 children have already died in our facilities since the beginning of 2025 due to a lack of timely access to care,” said MSF.
MSF stressed that addressing acute malnutrition in northern Nigeria required a multi-faceted approach.
“The hostages’ release will begin according to the original agreement between the parties and not before Friday.’’
“Since May, MSF. has been witnessing an unprecedented influx of malnourished children to our nutrition centre in Maiduguri, suggesting an alarming nutritional crisis in Borno.”
According to the statement, Zabarmari, a village near Maiduguri, has the highest case.
