Mr Edafe said the victims have since reunited with their families, adding that efforts are in top gear to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
“The kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt.”
One of the suspects, Daniel Pius, said he was a fashion designer and not a gay.
He added that effort was on to identify and apprehend the hoodlums.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect is a member of the Eiye Confraternity; he faked his own kidnap.”
Mr Edafe said that the suspect (name withheld) was apprehended by the anti-crime patrol team of the Oghara division of the command.
Mr Edafe said that one pump action gun was recovered from the scene, adding that investigation into the matter was ongoing.
The hoodlums, upon sighting the police team, shot sporadically at them; the deceased was maimed on his leg while attempting to escape from the scene.
The police spokesman said items recovered from the suspects included 74 vehicle tyres, 16 vehicle engines and eight gearboxes.
The police said that the duo were members of a three-man robbery gang, adding that the other accomplice was at large.
