The police command in the state said it had launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects to apprehend and prosecute them.
Mr Edafe said the suspect, who had been on the command’s wanted list, was sighted on a motorcycle in the Okwukoko community.
Operatives arrested the suspected leader of the gang, Emmanuel James, on May 11.
Mr Edafe said the suspect was neutralised on Thursday by the police operatives attached to the “B Division”, Warri, during a gun duel.
A local source said that the cause of the explosion was yet to be established.
Mr Edafe added that the kidnapped victim was rescued unhurt and had been reunited with his family.
The police said that the suspects, on the way to the police station, confessed to be members of a five-man kidnapping syndicate operating.
The police command warned cultists and mischief makers to steer clear of the state.
Mr Ali said that the suspects were arrested on Friday at a brothel located at Otokutu community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
Two robbery suspects, Yusuf Ibrahim and Hashimu Garba have been arrested and their ammunition seized by the police in Delta.
