“Three of the bandits were neutralised, while others escaped into the forest with suspected gunshot injuries,” he said.
Mr Abdullahi said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation by police officers.
The police command in Gombe has arrested a security guard, Shuaibu Adamu, for killing a worker at Government House.
According to Mr Abdullahi, the suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
Mr Abdullahi stated that the command had not received a report of extortion against any of its personnel.
Mr Abdullahi said that the rescued persons had been reunited with their family.
Mr Abdullahi said the victims were children and teenagers who drowned in rivers, erosion sites, and unprotected water channels.
He assured the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the celebration.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency.
He said the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigations.
