Mr Ndukwe said that the feat was achieved following intensified fight against crime ahead of the yuletide.
Mr Ndukwe said the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police said a Tecno phone, snatched from a victim in the crimes, and objects suspected to be charms were recovered.
“The commissioner reaffirms his commitment to ensuring that justice is done,” Mr Ndukwe said.
He said his body had been deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
According to him, the breakthrough followed a diligently gathered actionable intelligence.
Mr Ndukwe said that the suspect was also found to be in unauthorised possession of different documents.
“His detention led to the recovery of some lengths of vandalised cables, the value of which is yet to be ascertained,” the police spokesman said.
The CP said that on no account should any security personnel escort VIPs to the polling centres.
“We are appealing that this cooperation continues,” Mr Ndukwe said.
