WHO has issued its first comprehensive clinical guidelines for filovirus diseases as DRC battles an Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus.
The move followed the outbreak of the disease in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The federal government has intensified national preparedness and response measures against the possible introduction of the Bundibugyo Ebola Virus Disease.
Mr Ugwu said surveillance activities had been intensified at all points of entry.
He said the U.S. had already committed $112 million in bilateral assistance to the regional response.
Respondents demonstrated high theoretical knowledge but poor routine practice, largely due to environmental limitations.
The condolence was conveyed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
He said the state’s biosecurity and emergency response systems remained fully activated and outbreak-tested.
WHO says it is intensifying efforts and supporting the Democratic Republic of Congo’s government to contain the Ebola outbreak in the country’s north-eastern Ituri Province.
