The Edo police command says it arrested three suspected kidnappers and killed one during a gun duel in the Eguaholor forest axis of Uhunmwonde LGA.
The police urged residents seeking clarification, support, or information to reach her directly through the command’s official communication channels.
The suspects were said to belong to a four-man kidnapping gang terrorising Benin and its environs.
The police spokesperson said they were rescued after a joint operation by the operatives of the Ubiaja Divisional Headquarters and other tactical teams.
They were said to have opened fire on their victims and injuring them in the process.
On Saturday, suspected herdsmen attacked the train station in the Igueben area of the state, kidnapping scores of passengers waiting to board.
Police spokeswoman said the crime-busting successes were outcomes of police’ sustained efforts to stem the tide of heinous crimes and criminality in the state.
Operatives of the Edo Police Command have busted a suspected ritual shrine in Benin and arrested three suspects with 20 mummified bodies.
The state government vowed to prosecute both the civil servants and those who bought the vaccine cards.
However, the police refused to disclose the identity of the suspect.
