Operatives of the Edo Police Command have arrested nine persons for allegedly attempting to murder two persons in the state.

The suspects, said to be cult members, on June 15 attacked Festus Osagie, 40, and Olusola Esimaje, 39, at Ologbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state.

They were said to have opened fire on their victims and injuring them in the process.

Spokesman of the command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the arrest in Benin.

Mr Nwabuzor said the victims reported the incident at the Ologbo Police Division and that operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene where one Osahon Omofuma, 38, and eight others were arrested.

The victims, he said, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
