The Nasarawa and Benue elections petitions tribunal’s chairman, Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, has warned lawyers against giving frivolous excuses for adjournment.
“We crave the indulgence and cooperation of everyone so that we can finish on time.
The petitions were filed against the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of Governor Seyi Makinde as winner of the March 18 governorship election.
The tribunal was, however, yet to commence sitting over the petitions so far received.
The electoral body, through its counsel Paul Ananaba, SAN, on Wednesday, filed the petition at the Court of Appeal in Akure, on 44 grounds.
“Permit me to state that the court is in a dilemma,” Ms Dongbam-Mensem told Samuela Isopi, ambassador, EU Delegation, who paid her a visit in her office.
The panel held that the petition filed by Mr Oni against the return of Mr Oyebanji and Mrs Afuye respectively “failed woefully head or tail.”
