Abdullahi Alahaji was arrested for vandalising College Road Mgbidi Service Center distribution Substation.
He said the assailants had been using power at their residence in the Abakpa Nike area of Enugu for years without paying any bill.
“Restoration of power supply commenced since 00.34 a.m. (on August 18) in parts of the South-East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.”
A spokesperson for the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company said the four suspected vandals had been apprehended.
Power supply was restored to EEDC customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
“We are on standby, awaiting further information on restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC).”
NERC has commended the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) for its consistent effort towards actualisation of its transformation agenda.
EEDC warned that if electricity theft was not abated, energy services in the region would be jeopardised.
The EEDC said there’s been a series of attacks on its staff and installations within the South-East.
“Customers need to adopt an ownership attitude towards power installations sited within their environment.”
