Mr Udom was Akwa Ibom State governor from 2015 to 2023 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP presidential candidate said he plans to make “the nightmare of Ajaokuta” a thing of the past.

“Akwa Ibom is PDP, and PDP is Akwa Ibom,” Mr Emmanuel said. “I hope to immediately set up a reconciliation committee for those of us feeling aggrieved.”
The Akwa Ibom governor made his run public while receiving the chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olumide Akpata, in his office on Friday.
Two commissioners had resigned their positions within the week for political reasons.
Mr Arokodare said Mr Udom also allegedly threatened to arrest and lock all of these delegates if any of them should come into the hall.
Mr Kolawole, a former member of the Ekiti House of Assembly, polled 671 out of 1,185 votes to emerge as the party’s candidate in the primary.
