Timber Shed Market Dei-Dei vice-chairman Ifeanyi Chibata told the minister that about 50 shops were burnt and 25 vehicles set ablaze.
The minister said that public office required a tremendous amount of discipline.
The CP explained that the new restriction on the movement was based on credible intelligence available to the FCT Police Command.
The minister said the supermall had supported vulnerable members of the FCT during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The authorities say the structures are illegal and there was a need to correct the contraventions which pose an environmental risk.
An FCT official said the demolition was requested by landlords and residents of the area.
“The holding capacity of Eid grounds should be reduced to 50 per cent to ensure physical and social distancing.”
As of Thursday, the FCT had recorded 514 suspected cases, out of which eight laboratory investigations were confirmed to be cholera.
Politicians go to the community for campaigns and promise better days for the residents.
“We have actually given them two months and there is no compliance and that is why we have come to remove the contraventions.”
