A tanker fire at the Ugwu Onyeama axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway has claimed three lives and destroyed property estimated at N900 million.
The Federal Fire Service has advised Abuja residents to strictly adhere to all fire safety rules as Muslims commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
The fire service comptroller in Kano, Kazeem Sholadoye, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
“Disaster management is everybody’s business, and all hands must be on deck,” he said.
Mr Ogunda said the initiative was driven by the need to review past disasters.
The Federal Fire Service reported saving 24 lives and property worth N56.8 billion from 15 incidents in February.
According to him, special patrol operations will run from Tuesday to Sunday.
The statement said that due to the swift response and professionalism of the personnel, property valued at N55 million was saved, while the estimated losses stood at N5 million.
The Federal Fire Service has called for increased awareness and strict compliance with fire safety measures in public and private buildings.
The Federal Fire Service saved 2,106 lives and N934.70 billion worth of property in different fire incidents across Nigeria in 2025.
