The HMPV outbreak has overwhelmed hospitals in China, sparking global concern.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Alaba Balogun, clarified that the disease had not been detected in Nigeria and urged citizens to remain calm.
Mr Kwarra said that the study would be conducted in households where the deaths were recorded and consent received for revisit during the 2023-2024 Nigeria Demographic Health Survey.
“This is a huge burden and calls for deliberate efforts to address,” he said.
The protesters blocked the main gates of the hospital.
The ministry said the partnership would specifically target people with drug use disorders.
“It is important for every state to implement this NCH-approved mandatory establishment and funding of budget line for FP.”
“Early diagnosis and treatment of the disease greatly increase the chances of patient’s survival.’’
He said since the confirmation of the re-emergence of diphtheria, the federal government has continued to respond to the outbreaks in states.
The minister said issues such as poor working conditions, low salaries, non-payment of salaries, and others were the cause incessant strikes in the country’s health sector.
