“You introduce excise duty maybe to discourage the consumption of certain products like alcohol, like tobacco and many pieces where you didn’t produce it.”
The regime had earlier planned to do away with fuel subsidy in July, and promised Nigerians N5,000 monthly transportation allowance.
“Already we have borrowing increasing significantly and we are struggling with being able to service debt.”
Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya will chair the committee for the party’s presidential primary special convention, while finance minister Zainab Ahmed will be the committee co-chair.
He was suspended on May 18 by finance minister Zainab Ahmed, who cited the raging EFCC probe of the accountant-general over charges he stole and laundered more than N80 billion.
