NAFDAC has closed down a bakery for using unfortified sugar and banned bromate in Sokoto.
NAFDAC appealed to the public to avoid buying such products from unlicensed premises and to patronise registered and safe products from licensed outlets only.
Mr Mu’azu said proactive measures were imperative to ensure effective enforcement of environmental laws.
The NAFDAC coordinator in Sokoto, Garba Adamu, said Tuesday that the unregistered bakery was shut with assistance from security men.
The NCS comptroller in charge of the Sokoto-Zamfara area command, Musa Omale, said the items were accumulated seizures by customs.

“Some marketers are in the habit of dumping expired or about-to-expire products in markets in Sokoto and environs,” said NAFDAC.
The customs seized contraband sex-enhancing tablets, expired consumables, and drugs smuggled through illegal routes.
Garba Adamu, NAFDAC coordinator in Sokoto, said the consignment valued at about N2 million were seized in markets and on the streets of Sokoto metropolis.
The anti-graft agency said its operatives executed the invasion based on verifiable intelligence.
